Not every dash cam is built for Eastern Province heat
Resolution is only one part of the decision. We consider operating temperature, capacitor design, ventilation, and a High Endurance memory card made for continuous overwriting. We also assess real plate readability by day and night instead of relying on the number printed on the box.
What we define before installation
- Channels: front only, front and rear, or an internal channel for taxis and fleets.
- Retention: calculated from resolution, channel count, bit rate and memory size.
- Power: a 12V socket for simple use, or a proper hardwire kit for parking mode.
- Connectivity: local Wi‑Fi, optional GPS, and cellular/cloud options for fleets.
Parking mode without a flat battery
A parking installation uses constant, ignition and ground connections through a suitable kit. We configure its voltage cut-off or timer for the battery condition. We do not fit always-on power without protection; good equipment with poor wiring can still leave a car unable to start.
The cable route matters more than merely hiding it
The cable must not cross the A-pillar curtain airbag or strain a connector or sensor. We use trim tools, secure wiring behind the deployment path, choose a non-critical fuse, and refit panels without gaps or rattles.
Documented handover
- Review front and rear views and the horizon.
- Format the card and configure loop recording and event sensitivity.
- Set the correct time, zone and mobile application.
- Save, download and share a sample emergency clip.
- Explain card warnings, inspection and replacement.
Private vehicles and fleets
For fleets we can define a retention policy, vehicle labels and viewing permissions. Audio and cabin recording are not enabled by default; their purpose, notice and privacy policy should be decided first.
