First-fix cabling: what is laid now?
Most of what reaches us in Qatif is houses being built or extended, and the recurring question is: what must be cabled now and what can be deferred? The answer is simple: everything that passes inside a wall is laid now, and everything that hangs on it is deferred. Conduits, cables and the panel route are settled before plastering; the cameras and devices come at the finishing stage.
Points that are forgotten and then regretted
The rear yard door, the annexe, the roof, the majlis entrance, the position of the smart doorbell, and a network point on each floor for a future access point. These six cost you conduit and cable today; after the finishes they cost breaking, painting and surface trunking.
The expansion that is coming
The annexe to be built in two years, the rest house at the edge of the plot, a floor to be added. Laying an empty conduit to these positions today makes connecting them later a matter of hours. This is exactly what the AB-570 standard rests on in first-fix cabling.
Handover and documentation
The cabling is handed over with a point drawing and a numbering schedule, and a copy is kept in the client portal. Three years later, when you need an addition or a repair, the technician knows what is behind the wall without guessing. The full service umbrella is on low-current systems.
My house is under construction — when should I contact you?
At the first-fix stage, before plastering. That is when routes are decided at no cost, whereas afterwards every addition means breaking and making good.
Does first-fix cabling mean I must buy the devices now?
No. The cabling is one stage and the devices another. Many owners cable now and install the cameras a year later — and that is exactly the point of doing it in the right order.
What does AB-570 add to the cabling?
It is a written reference of 105 clauses governing routes, cable sizes, numbering, cabinet positions and testing — so the work is measured against something rather than left to judgement on the day.
Do you cable for an extension to an existing house?
Yes. We survey what exists, use the available routes where possible, and tell you plainly where breaking is unavoidable before starting rather than during.
