What is different about sites in Dammam?
Most of what we install in Dammam is warehouses, offices and shops inside complexes, and the essential difference from a residential site is distance. At a house the camera stands five metres from the door and identifies the face effortlessly; in a warehouse yard the point may be forty metres from the gate. At that distance the megapixel figure matters far less than the lens: a wide lens spreads its detail across a broad scene and gives you a “clear” image in which nobody can be identified.
Yards and night lighting
An outdoor yard is harder than a building: a wide area with uneven lighting, where one strong light source makes everything around it darker still. We place the points so that no camera looks into a light source, and we choose the night-vision type suited to each position — not one type for the whole site.
Entry gates and plate recognition
A plate-recognition camera is not an ordinary camera pointed at the gate: it has an angle, a height and a shutter speed calculated against the speed of the entering vehicle. Confusing the two is the reason behind most of what we see of “the camera films the car but cannot read the plate”. The detail is in the guide to installing plate-recognition cameras.
Distances and cabling
A single warehouse can exceed the limit of one cable run. We distribute intermediate collection points and calculate the power for each, rather than a long cable that works on handover day and fails months later. This rests on the network carrying the cameras — the detail is on enterprise networks and switches.
How many cameras does a medium warehouse need?
The count is not the right question. We start from the entrances and exits, the loading points, the main aisles and the high-value stock room, and the number then follows from the coverage required. A warehouse with two entrances and a yard may need fewer than expected if the points are placed correctly.
Can a camera identify a face at thirty metres?
Yes with a lens calculated for that distance, and no with a general-purpose one. That is why we define the purpose of every point before choosing: face identification, plate reading, or general observation — each needs a different lens.
What retention period do you recommend?
It is set by your activity and by any regulatory requirement attached to it, not by the capacity of the available disk. We calculate the capacity against the required period and fix it in writing at handover, so you do not discover a month later that footage is erased before you need it.
Do you work inside commercial complexes in Dammam?
Yes. We prepare the point drawing and scope of works in the form the complex management usually requires, and we keep to the working hours permitted inside it. The details are on
